Gestures

 

'Gestures' is a series of work based on two visits to Japan.

I travelled across Tokyo, Kyoto, Nikko, Mount Koyasan and Naoshima island searching for beauty in ordinary moments and attempting to looking beyond stereotypical views and interpretations.

Still vivid, sensations still remembered
Pausing to look, to be encompassed by a moment
Gazing just long enough to absorb the history of this place, this object, this surface.

Carved out of nature, marked by time, gathered parts and abundance of all
Gestures of the hand and of the heart"
